Hundreds are linging the streets to pay their last respects to a doctor who “spread kindness and warmth” for almost 20 years.

Dr Saad Al-Dubbaisi, who worked at Garden City Medical Centre in Holcombe Brook, died at Salford Royal Hospital on Sunday.

The 59-year-old GP had been ill for five weeks after contracting coronavirus.

Today, hundreds have lined the streets of Holcombe Brook ahead of the funeral cortege's arrival.  Many floral tributes were also laid out for the beloved doctor.

His funeral cortege is passing Moorgate Primary Care Centre in Bury before setting off for the practice.

Staff are preparing to leave roses and sweetwilliam blooms on his coffin when the cortege arrives.

Family, friends and colleagues have paid tribute to the hard-working Iraqi-born GP, who was also well-known for his work with the borough's out-of-hours medical service.

His funeral will take place later in Chorlton, it has been confirmed.

One onlooker said: "It's unbelieveable. The whole community has come out to pay their respects, which is wonderful."

The Bury doctor is believed to be the first GP in Greater Manchester to die from coronavirus. He lived in Walshaw with his wife Monah and his two daughters who are also doctors.
