CHILDREN of key workers at Alexandra Park Junior School in Oldham celebrated the 75th anniversary of VE in style thanks to dedicated staff.
They made an "amazing" Keep Calm and Carry On poster, while learning about the philosophy behind the phrase.
PSHE leader Samantha Hickling said: "It's an attitude they have most definitely shown during this outbreak with some other fabulous work going on over the past seven weeks. "Children at home were encouraged to include VE day in their home learning through links on the website.
"Away from school, the Alexandra Park team shared their photographs from their tea parties, to their sing along adventures."
She went on: "It's important for the children to understand why we celebrate VE Day.
"The attitudes and hope it also brings are really needed right now in a time of crisis.
"It's a particularly special time for me as I had a great uncle who was killed during world war two at Dunkirk, so this particular bank holiday has a really special personal connection for me."
