People will be able to take more of their waste to the tips from Saturday.
Cllr David Greenhalgh confirmed that tips in the borough would accept a wider range of rubbish after this weekend.
Residual waste, garden waste, wood, and cardboard can all be disposed of at the sites as of Saturday, May 16.
The newly accepted materials can be dumped into the bulk skips on site.
Tips will also be increasing the number of cars able to dump their rubbish at any time, although social distancing must still be followed on site.
The Raikes Lane tip is open to the public every day from 8am to 6pm, whilst the Salford Road centre will be open at weekends only, from 8am to 6pm on Saturdays and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
Cars with odd number plates are allowed on some days, while even number plates are allowed on others.
