Hundreds of paw-fect pooches have battled it out for the title of top dog in Bolton Hospice's virtual dog show.

Held over five days, the charity used their Facebook page to accept entries for five categories: happiest hound, best dressed dog, most like their owner, top trick, and the best of the rest for non-pups.

Users were then asked to vote for their favourite pooch for the day by liking their favourite.

Kathryn Willett, fundraising manager at the hospice said, “We've so enjoyed sharing your paw-some friends with our followers on Facebook, it's really lifted our spirits at the hospice so a big thank you for getting involved.”

Three-year-old Jack was named happiest hound, and was also crowned best in show after receiving the most votes.

His owner, Jennifer Wilcock, was over the moon with their success.

She said, "Jack has always had a big smile on his face since the day he was collected – I'm often told he has a better life than most humans.

"He loves walks, hogging children's footballs in the local park and receiving kisses.

"He's trained in flyball, agility and climbed Snowdon & Scarfell last year. Just Ben Nevis to go when lockdown finishes."

Jack has won a family photoshoot from Joy Photography at JLS Studio, with all other pets receiving a box of tasty treats from Burns Pet Food.

Felines Snowy and Buffy won best of the rest, whilst Buddy was voted top trickster for his ability to back onto the sofa, and Peter snatched the crown of best dressed dog.

Seven-year-old Koda and owner, Jordanna, were voted most alike. The black German Shepherd spends most of his time sleeping, waiting for nurse Jordanna to come home from work to get cuddles and kisses.

Together they like to stay fit and active, whilst also sharing cuddles on the sofa during lazy Sunday afternoons.

The dog show has has raised almost £1,000 for the hospice and donations can still be made at justgiving.com/campaign/VirtualDogShow.
