AN inquest has opened into the death of a woman who died in an Oldham care home.
Joyce Mary O'Dea, 83, passed away on April 19, while a resident in Alexandra Care Home, in Queens Park Road, Oldham.
Mrs O'Dea, a widow, was a retired school cook who lived at Throstle Court, Middleton Road, Royton.
Police Coroner's Officer, Bernadette Hatton told the hearing that Mrs O'Dea was taken to A&E with a suspected urinary tract infection (UTI).
It was discovered she had a hip fracture although it is not known how she received it.
She was operated on April 10 before being discharged to the care home the next day. She died in bed on April 19.
The provisional cause of death was given as acute myocardial ischemia and coronary atheroma.
Coroner Catherine McKenna formally opened the inquest, to take place at a later date.
