TEENAGER Ian Entwistle certainly turned a few heads in 1980 when he cycled to work every morning in Astley Bridge - on a pennyfarthing.
Ian, then 18, had bought the 100-year-old bike for £300 in Pontefract and after a bit of tidying up rode it every day to work at his local supermarket.
A keen cyclist Ian was hoping to form a club for vintage bike owner in Bolton.
He was also a racer and spent most of his weekends in the saddle- although he didn’t do too many miles on his favourite ‘boneshaker’.
Ian had bought the bike along with pal John Derbyshire, then 17, and the pair had already been offered £500 for it although Ian had no intention of letting it go any time soon
