A further rise has been reported in the number of coronavirus related deaths in Cornwall.

It is the third rise since Tuesday, have previously remained static for a week.

Today's figures from NHS England show the total number of deaths related to the virus sits at 89.

Of those, 63 have been reported by Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, while 26 have taken place at hospitals run by Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The figures only cover deaths in hospitals.

Office for National Statistics totals, which cover all settings, put Cornwall's overall number at 190 earlier this week.

As of yesterday evening, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly had seen 575 confirmed cases of the virus.

Nationally, a further 146 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 26,529.

Patients were aged between 46 and 97 years old. Six of the 146 patients - aged between 46 and 91 - had no known underlying health condition. Their families have been informed.

NHS England and NHS Improvement also reports the number of patient deaths where there has been no Covid-19 positive test result, but where the virus is documented as a direct or underlying cause of death.

Today, 15 deaths are reported under these circumstances.
