A 30-year-old man is in custody after police executed stop and search powers to pull a vehicle, finding numerous wraps of cocaine and cannabis inside.

Officers from the taskforce stopped the car on Lomeshaye Road in Nelson on Monday evening.

The male occupant of the vehicle was searched, along with the car. and police found numerous wraps of suspected cocaine as well as cannabis.

A 30-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession with the intent to supply class A drugs and spent the night in police cells.

A spokesperson for the police said: "This evening officers from the taskforce have stopped a vehicle of interest on Lomeshaye Road in Nelson.

"One man was stop-searched, and inside the vehicle was located numerous wraps of suspected cocaine along with cannabis.

"The 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and is now spending his evening in police custody."
