Police have arrested a suspected drink-driver who was caught with an open bottle of beer whilst behind the wheel on a motorway.
Officers from the North West Motorway Police were alerted to a vehicle driving dangerously on the M6, heading north towards Lancashire.
When the car was stopped, the patrol found 14 bottles of beer in the footwell, with another open in the driver's lap.
A spokesman for the force said: "Information has been passed to us by Central Motorway Police Group of a vehicle driving dangerously M6 northbound entering the North West motorway police group area. Vehicle stopped by MS28.
"The driver was literally drinking whilst driving. 14 bottles of beer in the footwell with one open on the driver's lap.
"Driver arrested for positive breath test."
