COUNCILLORS are calling for action to prevent 'slum' houses being erected in Oldham.
Liberal Democrats have drawn up a full council motion seeking pledges that any new homes must have natural light access and minimum space standards.
Cllrs Sam Al-Hamdani and Hazel Gloster, who are behind the bid, also want this extended to former non-residential premises converted into homes.
Cllr Al-Hamdani, said the call followed a controversial planning application in Watford earlier this year.
He added: "While there are guidelines, there is nothing in law saying this cannot happen in Oldham or anywhere else."
The next full council meeting at Oldham is on July 15.
