BOLTON residents will be able to be tested for coronavirus at a temporary drive-through site from Monday.

The announcement comes as the drive-through test centre outside the University of Bolton stadium closes today.

The pop-up facility will operate until August 21 and will be run on an appointment-only basis, which can be made via the online national booking system.

Up to 400 ‘self-swab’ tests will be offered per day from 10.30am to 3.30pm, seven days a week.

Appointments will be available from this Sunday evening.

Tests for coronavirus should be done within the first five days of symptoms which are a high temperature, a new, continuous cough and a loss or change to your sense of smell.

Cllr Susan Baines, executive cabinet member for wellbeing, said: “You can order a home test kit online or book an appointment at the new temporary testing centre in Bolton.

“Until you have the results, you should stay at home and not have any visitors. Everyone in your household or support bubble should do the same.

People who are eligible will carry out their own tests, while under-12s must have their test administered by a parent or carer. Results will be received within 48 hours.

The facility will accommodate people arriving by car with strict social distancing measures in place.
