A TEENAGE kitchen genius is looking forward to cooking with celebrity chef Nigel Haworth after winning a local competition with his tasty veggie curry.

Charlie Mullaly,, 13, from Cherry Tree tickled the judges tastebuds in Blackburn with Darwen's Great Big Pan Challenge with his own recipe chickpea, lentil and potato dahl.

Organised by Healthier Place, Healthier Future, the contest aimed to help the borough become a food resilient community, helping the community to find long-term solutions to food access and availability.

Top prize is to cook with Michelin-starred chef and Northcote founder Mr Haworth who as head judge.

The runners-up were Mylo Newsome and Susan McLeod.

Cllr Damian Talbot, the borough council's Public Health boss, said: "It has been great to see different agencies and community groups come together to ensure that no one in Blackburn with Darwen goes without food during this challenging time."
