SADDLEWORTH’S intrepid fundraisers took to the villages highways and byways at the weekend as part of their annual unofficial beer walk.

A happy go lucky team, keeping social distance, set out from the Satellite Centre in Greenfield wearing a host of colourful costumes to raise smiles - and cash - around local pubs.

It is the ninth unofficial walk organised by intrepid Justin Brown and his sister Angie Adamson in the wake of the original Saddleworth Round Table annual beer walk which was abandoned after problems.

And, dressed as toilet rolls and WC’s - a reference to the panic buying of toilet rolls earlier in year - the dynamic duo used this year's event to raise much needed cash for the Brain Tumour Charity.

Angie said: “Our beautiful, brave niece, nine-year-old Nelani, from Diggle, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in October 2019.

“After brain surgery and intense chemotherapy and radiotherapy she is getting so close to the finishing line and is set to ring the bell for the last time in 3 months time.

“This has been the most horrendous and harrowing time imaginable for our family. Something you never imagine in a million years will happen to you and yours. Especially to a child. A wake up call that really does teach you to treasure life and never take anything for granted.

“Her strength and resilience throughout this extremely painful and difficult journey has amazed us all. She really is the bravest most inspirational little girl.

“We along with our family will be climbing Mount Snowden in September in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity.

“We would be incredibly grateful to anyone who could kindly sponsor us. Your donation will mean the world to us and will help fund pioneering research to find new treatments, increase survival and quality of life and give a lifeline of support to those who need it most.”

The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally.

Committed to saving and improving lives, the charity are moving further and faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour. A cure really can’t wait.
