A DRIVER caught speeding and running a red light was rushing to get to his pregnant girlfriend.
PC Claire Gray, an officer from West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit, first spotted a white Volkswagen overtaking in Cleckheaton.
The driver of the car then began speeding, before going through a red traffic light.
PC Gray pulled over the vehicle.
The man driving the car told the officer that he was speeding, and had gone through on a red light, because he thought his girlfriend was going into labour.
PC Gray posted about the incident on social media website, Twitter.
She said: "Driver witnessed overtaking and then speeding before going through a red traffic light.
"His reason why?
"He thought his girlfriend was going into labour.
"Driving like that is not going to get you to the hospital safely. Drive to arrive."
