PEOPLE are invited to get beating and blending, whipping and whisking to enter The Great Sanctuary Bake Off on Saturday, August 22.

The event is being staged by Wilmslow Animal Sanctuary, and there are six categories; animal cakes, round cakes, loaf cakes, cupcakes and other small cakes, traybakes and bars and ‘Free From’ cakes.

It costs £3 to enter a category, and all you have to do is buy one or more tickets in the categories you want to enter before midnight on Wednesday, August 19, and deliver your entries to the sanctuary at Newgate between 10am and 1pm on Saturday, August 22 for judging and feedback from the owners of the Silver Apples Bakery in Stockport.

There will be prizes for first, second and third place in each category. Judging takes place from 3pm on Saturday, August 22, and because of Covid-19 participants are not allowed to be present at the judging.

Winners will be announced on Facebook on Saturday evening and prizes sent out the following week. For more information visit heswilmslow.co.uk/Event/the-great-sanctuary-bake-off

People can join the sanctuary team for morning coffee or afternoon tea on Sunday, August 23, and sample the contest bakes.

Tables will be for two to six people (eight maximum) and must be booked and paid for in advance.

To keep the event Covid-19 secure people are asked that their table is made up of members of their household or bubble only, and that they social distance at all times while on site.

Tickets are £5 per person (under 5s free). Prosecco will also be available for an additional donation. For more information visit heswilmslow.co.uk/Event/morning-coffee-or-afternoon-tea
