A MAN who made threats to his ex-partner and her boss later told police he was just "mouthing off."

Blackburn magistrates heard Carl Michael Landon had promised that someone was going to "sleep for good" as he bombarded his ex with 36 text messages in the space of an hour.

Landon, 34, of Sherwood Way, Altham, pleaded guilty to sending threatening messages to Louise Higgins and Alan Herbert.

He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said Miss Higgins was the ex-partner of the defendant and Mr Herbert was her boss at the Bay Horse Hotel.

Mrs Yates said there had been an incident in which Miss Higgins received an injury and Landon believed her boss was responsible.

"He went to the public house and made verbal threats to Mr Herbert," said Mrs Yates.

"At 6.42am she received a call from the defendant and hung up but this was followed by a series of messages in which he made threats to both of them."

She said the messages left Miss Higgins feeling worried.

"She suffered abuse from him when they were in a relationship and was also worried about what he may do to her boss," said Mrs Yates.

"She feels he is capable of anything."

Colleen Dickinson-Jones, defending, said Landon initially went to the pub where his ex-partner worked because he heard she had suffered a black eye.

"The initial approach was because he was concerned for her safety," said Mrs Dickinson-Jones.

"This happened six months ago and there has been no contact between them since."
