A NEW bus service is being introduced to link Bury town centre with employment opportunities at Pilsworth.

And several changes are set to be made for routes affecting Prestwich next month.

The proposed alterations have all been highlighted by the Greater Manchester Transport Committee.

From October 25, a new 492 bus will be offered by Tyrers between Bury town centre and Pilsworth Asda, running hourly via Manchester Road and Croft Lane, daytime Mondays to Saturdays.

Bus chiefs, from the same date, are withdrawing the 90 route, between Simister, Heaton Park and Prestwich, in favour of amendments to the 66, 94 and 96 services.

The 94 bus will now run via Heywood Road, Whittaker Lane, Bury Old Road, St Margaret’s Road and Sandgate Road.

And the 96 will run via Heys Road, Fairfax Road and Bury New Road instead of Heywood Road in order to maintain the link from Simister to Prestwich. The 484 route for Whitefield to Salford is being lost but the 66 service is being adjusted
