A WOMAN was seriously injured in a suspected hit-and-run incident in the early hours of Sunday morning, with police now appealing for information.

Police arrived at the scene at around 2.40am on Sunday September 20 where they found the woman, in her 30s, lying in the middle of Lees Road.

The woman's injuries have been described as life-threatening and she was quickly taken to hospital.

Inspector Danny Byrne, of Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "Firstly, I would like to say that our thoughts are with the victim and her loved ones as she continues to receive treatment in hospital.

"Enquiries are ongoing but we believe that the victim was hit by a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene.

"I would like to use this opportunity to appeal to anyone with information or dashcam footage from the surrounding area at the time to share it with us so we can establish the full circumstances of this incident."

The woman's next of kin have been informed.
