There have been 884 new positive coronavirus tests recorded across East Lancashire since Sunday.

Data from NHS England, released on Tuesday afternoon shows Blackburn with Darwen has once again registered the highest number of new cases out of all six local authority areas.

Across the borough 416 more people have tested positive for the virus since Sunday, bringing the total number of positive cases there since the pandemic began to 5,806.

Pendle saw the second highest number of new positive tests with another 129 affirmative results since Sunday, meaning a total of 2,985 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the borough since the start of the pandemic.

In Rossendale, 122 new positive tests were registered since Sunday, with their total now sitting at 1,974, while in Hyndburn another 124 people tested positive since Sunday, taking the total there to 2,241.

In Burnley, 93 positive tests were registered in the last 48 hours, taking the total number of positive cases there to 3,016, while the Ribble Valley’s total number of positive tests stands at 1,234.

The total number of positive tests for Covid-19 recorded across East Lancashire since the pandemic started now stands at 17,256.

There have been 11 new Covid-19 deaths recorded at hospitals within East Lancashire.

The total number of people to die in those facilities, where Covid-19 has been recorded on their death certificate, is now 268.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals recorded five new coronavirus related deaths taking their death toll to 286, while Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals Trust registered two new deaths meaning their toll now stands at 189.

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust had one more patient die with Covid-19, taking the total there to 210.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals was the only hospital trust to record no new coronavirus related deaths. The tally there now stands at 288.

The total number of deaths across the county, in all hospitals, according to figures from NHS England, now stands at 1,241.
