A POLICE dog assisted officers as they carried out a crackdown on suspected drug dealing in Wimborne.

The activity involved visits to a number of licensed premises in the town and led to two men being arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug with intent to supply.

Officers from the Wimborne Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out the targeted operation, along with assistance from the dog section and police dog Gus.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “On Friday October 23, officers from Wimborne Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out an operation to target suspected drug dealing in the area.

“During the operation, officers visited a number of licensed premises with the assistance of the dog section.

“Two men from Wimborne, aged 30 and 34, were arrested on East Street on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A.

“They have been released under investigation while enquiries continue. A quantity of suspected cocaine, cash, digital scales and phones were seized.”
