One more person has died after testing positive for coronavirus at Royal Bolton Hospital, according to latest figures.

NHS England statistics now show 282 people have now died at the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 since the pandemic began.

This latest death was recorded as being on Monday October 26.

Meanwhile Bolton has stayed as the 9th highest in England for coroanavirus infection rates.

In the seven days leading up to October 23 1,601 people tested positive for coronavirus across the borough.

The borough's infection rate has risen to 556.8 per 100,000 people.

Blackburn with Darwen still has by far the highest infection rate in the country with 789.6 per 100,000 of the population.

Rossendale and Oldham are the next highest with 672.9 and 660.9 per 100,000 respectively.

Wigan, Salford and Rochdale all have an infection rate of over 600 per 100,000 of population.

Knowsley, Barnsley and Bolton all come next with infection rates all above 550 per 100,000.

The latest cases brings the total amount of Boltonians who have caught coroanvirus since the start of the pandemic to 9,746.

The Government said a further 310 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday in the UK.

There have also been a further 24,701 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK, bringing the total number of cases in the UK to 942,275.
