Preston North End boss Alex Neil says the club are yet to hear about a possible Football Association investigation into an alleged incident involving right back Darnell Fisher.

Footage appeared to show the North End defender twice grabbing Sheffield Wednesday’s Callum Paterson in the groin area during Saturday’s Championship game at Deepdale.

Reports on Sunday night suggested that the FA was aware of the incident, which took place as North End were defending a corner, but Neil says the club is yet to be notified.

He told the Lancashire Post: “We haven't heard anything from anyone at the moment.

"Because of the sensitive nature of it, I can't really comment on it. That is basically where we are at."

The clip has been widely shared on social media, with Rovers attacker Bradley Dack among the many people to have their say on the matter.

And Neil believes the widespread social media coverage does have an impact of how certain incidents are judged.

He added: "I think that is what happens nowadays because of the power of social media. The trial has been done and they have been found whatever before anything has taken place.

"We are not in control of that so there is nothing we can do - it is what it is. We just need to get on with it."

Neil says Fisher is in contention to feature against Rovers tomorrow night as the two sides meet at Deepdale.

A second half goal from Tom Barkhuizen against 10-man Wednesday gave North End their first home victory of the season in Tony Pulis’ first match in charge against the visitors.
