Two men are expected to appear in court today in relation to the murder in Moston last week.
Police were called to Whitstable Road on Thursday morning in reports to a man was in distress.
They found Alan Murphy, aged 39, had been stabbed multiple times and he was transported to hospital but died later that day.
Following this William Doleman, 26 and from Rossington Road in Moston, and Ademola Efunnaga, 25 and from City Road East in Manchester, have both been charged with murder.
They will appear are Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court this morning.
Following his death the family of Alan Murphy paid tribute to him.
A statement released said: "Alan had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.
"He has left a lasting impression on everyone's hearts who has met him.
"Alan was a loving son, brother, and father to his young daughter. He is gone but will never be forgotten."
