ONE of Oldham's most popular eateries has reopened its doors for takeaway service.

The Old School BBQ bus, based in Alford Street, Hollinwood welcomed hungry fans when they opened at the weekend.

Now Mark Fairley said plans are in place to get ready for the full opening once lockdown is lifted.

Mark said: "We had massive queues when we first opened and it was so good to see our loyal customers back. It has been a really difficult time."

In 2016 the Old School BBQ was born, using a freshly imported 1982 Bluebird International American school bus from Arizona as a mobile kitchen.

The bus was converted from a traditional seated bus to a fully functional kitchen, with smokers and griddles to cook low and slow BBQ food.

Mark started off running the business from a local pub car park in Failsworth.

The demand for food grew and forced Mark to expand, the bus now comes with a covered seated area with 18 tables and a fully licensed bar and WC facilities.

There's also a stage with live music as entertainment.

Mark said: "We were fully booked for nine months for every Friday and Saturday night before lockdown, we are a family venue and people can come and have a good time, we will look forward to getting booked up again."

Mark is the chief pit master where he cooks smoked brisket, ribs, wings, and beef rib, all freshly served from the smoke pit.

Pizza, burgers and salads, as well as a kid's menu are available.

Mark added: "The demand for our food is high and people always give us fantastic feedback. We are hoping to move premises in the future and extend even more, we have made a few enquiries but will wait and see.

"We love to feed and entertain our customers so when we are out of lockdown we will have our resident singer back, we are looking forward to that."

For the meantime the Old School BBQ bus is open Friday and Saturday 4pm - 8pm.
