Two men have made a second court appearance after being charged with the murder of a man in Moston last week.
Emergency services were called to Whitstable Road on Thursday morning after reports of an attack.
Upon arrival they discovered a 39-year-old man, later identified as Alan Murphy, had been stabbed in multiple locations.
He was taken to hospital but died later that day.
Following this two men were charged and appeared at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court again today.
They spoke only to identify themselves as William Doleman, 26 and from Rossington Road in Moston, and Ademola Efunnuga, 25 and from City Road East in Manchester.
The pair will be given the chance to enter pleas to the allegation at a later hearing in May.
If the case goes to trial this will take place in September and is expected to last for more than ten days.
The court heard that CCTV footage is likely to play a key role in any trial.
Following his death the family of Alan Murphy paid tribute to him.
A statement released said: "Alan had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.
"He has left a lasting impression on everyone's hearts who has met him.
"Alan was a loving son, brother, and father to his young daughter. He is gone but will never be forgotten."
