Five people have appeared in court after police carried out raids as part of an investigation into use of encrypted communication services.

Properties were visited by officers in Oldham, Rochdale and Liverpool earlier in the week as part of Operation Foam.

Following this the following people appeared at Tameside Magistrates’ Court.

Asad Zulfiquar, 35 and from Broomfield Gardens in Liverpool, was charged with conspiracy to supply heroin, cocaine and cannabis and possessing a prohibited weapon for sale.

Urszula Kareme, 42, of Burder Street in Oldham, was charged with three counts of conspiracy to supply cocaine, heroin and cannabis.

Riasat Ali, 40 and from Wyke Park in Oldham, faced the same charges as Kareme.

Jake Burke, 30 and from Middleton Road in Oldham, was charged with a conspiracy to supply cocaine.

Patrick Barry, 37 and from Manchester Road in Heywood, faced the same charge as Burke.

Their case was sent to Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court where they will appear next month.
