TODAY is International Women's Day and a local support group is encouraging women to empower themselves through a new programme.

Inspire Women Oldham wants females to take a pathway to improve their lives.

Inspire Women’s Centre is in the heart of Oldham town centre, with its work being recognised locally in the Pride in Oldham Awards and nationally through the Women in Housing Awards.

Diane Baxter, director/associate at Inspiring Women said that the centre is open to all women aged over 16 and who live in the town.

She said: "In the past year we sadly had to close our centre, but we have delivered over 3,000 hours of online engagement with over 100 women.

"So many of the women had never used any form of technology, and now they are so glad they did. So please don' t let the fear of technology put you off we can help you."

The pathway programme aims to help women live to their full potential and to learn new skills regardless of who they are and where they come from.

Diane said: "Inspire creates an environment that moves away from traditional forms of consultation and engagement and offers a more participative, inclusive culture from where to shape women's services.

"The focus here is very much about listening to the passion's of women, what they care about and want to change, and enabling them to be that change."

Inspiring Growth Journeys offers pathways that have built the foundations of Inspire Women, They include Finding

Me, Inspiring Futures, Building Bridges, Taking the Leap and Dare to Change.
