Covid is continuing to plummet in Oldham and the town has had no deaths in more than a week.

The latest data from the Office for National Statistics show that there were 15 positive tests in the area today.

Over the last week there have been 145 cases found, a welcome fall of 44.4 per cent from the seven days before this.

Across the country the number of positive tests is falling 23.6 per cent.

The number of people per 100,000 in Oldham has dropped significantly and now stands at 83.1. It had been over 100 for most of last month.

Over the UK this figure stands at 41.4.

There were no deaths in Oldham todaywhich came within 28 days of a positive test and there have been none over the last week.

The more recent fatality came 12 days ago.

Across the country as a whole there were 20 deaths recorded today.

There have been 212 deaths over the UK over the last week, a drop of 45.2 per cent from the seven days before this.

The latest data also shows 31,622,367 people across the country have now had their first dose of the vaccine and 5,496,716 people have had their second dose.
