MEMORIES of Werneth pubs have been shared online.

Fond tales have been told after they closed and these images will bring back memories for a few.

Doreen Whittingham shared her memory of The Dog Inn. She said: “My dad went in the pub on a Saturday and Sunday lunchtime. Happy memories for me. I would sometimes walk down from Gloucester Street and sit outside waiting for him.”

Meanwhile Syd Street from Oldham said he shared his first pint with pal Kenny Hopwood in the Top Waggon.

Melanie Robertson said she met her husband in The Friendship Inn.

She said: “I met my hubby in there, it was a night where I didn’t really want to go out on a cold December tea time.

“Here we are thirty years later.”
