A 48-YEAR-OLD fundraiser set up her own community fundraising team before Christmas, initially collecting over 2,000 selection boxes.
For Easter, Sally Maher and her team set to work again and collected funds for, bought and distributed 1,725 Easter eggs for charities and other good causes across the community.
Dr Kershaw’s Hospice received 200 Easter eggs from Sally and her team, along with donations from other generous supporters from across the borough.
The array of Easter eggs were given to patients and their families, both in the hospice and the community, as well as to the hospice’s dedicated staff and volunteers, many of whom worked across the bank holiday weekend.
Sally said: “We chose Dr Kershaw’s as one of the charities to support as my boyfriend’s nana was cared for by the team there. It was so nice to see the reactions when we dropped the Easter eggs off.”
Lillie Winterbottom, community fundraiser at the hospice added: “We are so grateful to Sally and her team, they gave our patients and their families, our staff and volunteers an Easter treat, and brought lots of smiles with their kind donations.”
With organised Easter egg hunts cancelled, Sally also spent Easter Sunday hiding Easter eggs in parks across the borough, so local children could still participate in Easter fun.
