MORE bargain hunters are expected to flock to an Oldham car boot this weekend.

Organisers of the Oldham Rugby Union based event opened back up last weekend and said it was a 'huge success'.

With hundreds of people passing through the doors, people were able to grab a bargain and enjoy the atmosphere.

Club steward John Mitchell and chair Roland Heptonstall set up the carboot 18 months ago.

John said: "We are more than happy to resume. When we set up the car boot it was a huge success then we obviously went in to lockdown."

Car boot sales are great for people hunting for a bargain and are great for people wanting to make a few quid.

John said: "A lot of people love it at the car boot sale, for some it's their livelihood.

"People haven't been able to go out and mingle and it's a bit like a community here, we are all a friendly bunch."

The weekly sale is at the Bryth Road club and opens at 6am each Sunday and closes at 12.30pm.

It's £12 for a car and it is £20 a van and entry fee is completely free.

John and Roland have been working hard to ensure hand sanitisers are on display and people can access stalls safely.

John added: "It has been fantastic so far we had a really good time last weekend and we are looking forward to welcoming people back this Sunday.

"People have missed coming to the car boot, we have our regulars, the same people come to sell and the same people come to buy.

"We welcome anyone through the gates and they can have a look around and grab a brew and a bacon butty. It is a good happy atmosphere.

"All you have to do is turn up."
