PEOPLE have been spotted swimming in Crompton Moor reservoir, police have reported.
Officers have been told visitors have been seen in the reservoir trying to cool down during the hot weather.
But police are warning that they could end up being seriously injured after going into the water as temperatures are extremely cold.
Currents in the water can be dangerous to those who decide to go into open water too.
A Greater Manchester Police Saddleworth and Lees spokesman said: "We’ve received reports of people swimming in the reservoir at Crompton Moor during the recent hot weather.
"Please stay out of the water as it's very cold and you could get into difficulties."
