AN OLDHAM post office was reopened yesterday by councillors in its new location.
The Holts Post Office, which has been temporarily closed since last year, will now be based in Holts Variety Store, approximately 100 metres from its old spot.
The branch opening hours will be Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, and Saturday 9am – 4.30pm.
The closure of the previous branch at 32-36 Near Birches Parade prompted a petition from residents eager to see the service return.
Oldham Council's Cabinet member for health and social care Zahid Chauhan tweeted a picture of himself and other councillors who represent Alexandra ward, saying: "So delighted to join Mayor @OldhamCouncil for opening of post office in Holts, much needed community facility . A great community place. @cllrjennyoldham @ShaidMushtaq."
