ONE new coronavirus-related death was recorded at the trust responsible for the Royal Oldham Hospital today, figures revealed.

NHS England data show 1,606 people had died in hospitals under the control of Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust after testing positive for Covid-19 as of 5pm on Monday.

That was an increase of one compared to Sunday, when there were 1,605.

It means there have been five deaths in the last week. The week before, no new deaths were recorded.

The number of people per 100,000 in Oldham who produced a positive Covid-19 test in the seven days up to June 3 was 91.5.

That is double what the national rate of 44.2 was up to that date.

There were 217 cases discovered in the borough in the week up to June 3.

A daily total of 76 has been logged today, government statistics discovered.
