NO more coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded at the trust that looks after the Royal Oldham Hospital today – but the borough's infection rate rose again.

The number per 100,000 people in Oldham who had the virus in the seven days up to June 4 was 96.6, more than double the national rate of 47.7.

There were 229 cases discovered in the town up to that date, government statistics showed.

A further 57 new cases has been found in Oldham in the latest daily count.

Across the UK, six more people have died after testing positive for Covid-19.

In total, 127,860 have died in Britain after having the virus since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, more than 40.7m people have had their first vaccination dose while more than 28.5m have had their second doses.
