A 16-year-old boy is the latest person charged as part of a murder investigation into the stabbing of dad-to-be Charlie Elms in Oldham last month.

The teenager, from Chadderton, has been charged with one count of violent disorder and a second count of possession of an offensive weapon.

He is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court today.

Police were called shortly after 5.05pm on Wednesday, May 26, to a report of a disturbance involving a group of men causing damage to a property on Fifth Avenue in Limeside.

During the incident, 25-year-old Charlie Elms was fatally injured and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The 16-year-old is the sixth person charged following the death and comes after a wave of fresh arrests on Wednesday.

The arrests also came on the same day a fifth suspect was charged by GMP's Major Incident Team in connection with the death.

Melvin James Whelan, 38, of Greenacres Road, Oldham, has been charged with one count of violent disorder and has been remanded in custody to next appear at Manchester Crown Court on July 14.
