SOME coronavirus restrictions are still in force, but a lot of attractions are still open to visitors in Oldham.

TripAdvisor allows visitors to rate these attractions, as well as to comment on their experiences of them.

And if these ratings and comments are to be believed, there is no shortage of things to do in the borough.

Top of the list is Dovestone Reservoir, with a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from almost 300 reviews.

The popular walking destination is often bustling when the sun is shining, but visitors do not seem to mind.

One of them said: “Regardless of the route you choose, the views are absolutely spectacular.

“A wonderful place to go for a walk.”

Next is Tandle Hill Country Park, also with a rating of 4.5.

About 150 visitors have left reviews of Oldham’s oldest country park, almost all of them positive.

“Many different walking paths, ideal in the pandemic as well people can be spread out,” one visitor said.

Lancaster Park and Animal Farm rounds off the top three, with another 4.5 out of 5 rating from 415 reviews.

Visitors loved the opportunity to meet, feed and touch the animals at the farm.

One visitor said: “What a hidden gem this is!

“Why have I not discovered it before?”

Also on TripAdvisor’s list are Oldham Coliseum and Stonerig Raceway in Lees, where visitors can race slot cars on different tracks.

Then there is Alexandra Park, Little Owl Farm and the Delph Donkey, a walk along the route of the old London and North Western Railway.

A rating of 4.5 out of 5 from eight reviews suggests no one to go on the walk between Delph and Uppermill was too disappointed by the lack of actual donkeys.

One visitor described it as a ‘must’ for those in Saddleworth.

Uppermill Library within the grade-II listed St Chad’s House, the former home of the renowned church architect George Shaw, whose work is to be found across the north west of England and beyond, also features.

But that is just the start, as there are a lot of other things to do across the rest of the borough.
