The rate of Covid in Oldham is now rising slower than the national average.

The latest data from Public Health England shows there were 93 cases found in the town today.

Over the last seven days there have been 463 positive tests, which is a rise of 30.1 per cent from the week before this.

Across the UK as a whole cases are rising at the slightly faster rate of 33.7 per cent.

There were no deaths in Oldham today which came within 28 days of a positive test for the virus.

Nationwide there were 19 deaths today and there have been 78 over the last week, which is a rise of 41.8 per cent.

The rate of Covid per 100,000 people in Oldham is still well more than double the national rate.

It stands at 184.7 in the town, compared to 75 in the country as a whole.

The latest data indicates hospitalisations with Covid at the Pennine Acute Hospitals was nine in the last week, a rise of 50 per cent from the seven days before this.

A total of 134,235 people in Oldham have now had their first dose of the vaccine, which is 69.2 per cent of the adult population.

Of these 97,814 have had their second dose, which is 50.5 per cent of those eligible.

Across the UK 80.1 per cent of adults have had their first dose and 58.2 per cent have had their second jab.
