MANCHESTER United legend Paul Scholes has had both his Covid-19 jabs, an Oldham health trust has announced.

The Northern Care Alliance (NCA), which runs The Royal Oldham Hospital, Salford Royal, Fairfield General Hospital and the Rochdale Infirmary, took to Facebook on Monday, June 22 with a post that read: “Manchester United legend Paul Scholes had no hesitation in taking up the Covid vaccine when offered. He is now double jabbed. Come on, do your bit, be a #vaccineHero.”

The written message was above a photo of the former United mid fielder receiving his vaccine from an NHS nurse.

Scholes made 718 appearances and scored 155 goals for United, winning 25 trophies, 11 being Premier League titles. He retired in May 2013 after playing for England on 66 occasions.

The latest figures show 136,241 people in Oldham have now had their first dose of the vaccine, which is 70.3 per cent of those eligible.

Of these 100,585 have had their second dose, which is 51.9 per cent of those eligible.

The vaccination rate is lagging behind the UK one, where 81.9 per cent have had their first dose and 59.7 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Walk in clinics on offer in Oldham this week are located at the Dinwoodie Building, Steptoe Drive, Royal Oldham Hospital from 08.30 – 4.30pm on Wednesday June 23 and Thursday June 24.
