OLDHAM residents can now pick up a rapid home testing kit from any library in the borough.

A Facebook post published on the Oldham Council’s I love Oldham page on Tuesday June 22, reads: “From today, you can pick up a rapid home testing kit from any library in Oldham. We recommend that everyone gets tested at least twice a week to reduce the spread of the virus and keep those around you safe. Rapid tests are free, quick and easy and results can be with you in only 30 minutes.”

Rapid home testing kits are for people who do not have do not have coronavirus symptoms, are 11 and older and have not been told to self-isolate.

Residents who have Covid-19 symptoms should get a PCR test and self-isolate.

Around one in three people with Covid-19 do not have symptoms but can still infect others, according to the NHS.

The NHS also recommends that people do a rapid test twice a week (every three to four days) to check if they have the virus and stop it from spreading.
