A Failsworth man who was snared by a group of paedophile hunters after communicating with what he thought was a 13-year-old girl has been jailed.

Raymond Carpenter, aged 40, had earlier pleaded guilty to three sexual offence and appeared in Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court this to be sentenced.

The man from Oldham Road in Failsworth carried out the acts in June and July last year.

He admitted that he attempted to communicate with a 13-year-old in a sexual manner in Facebook over both those months.

In the same time period, spanning two weeks, he admitted that he incited a 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity by performing a sexual act on herself.

He is also admitted to facilitating the commission of a child sexual offence in Longsight where he confessed he intended to engage in sexual activity with what he thought was a youngster.

His actions came to light when he was caught by the group of paedophile hunters and a video of him being caught was circulated online.

The matter was subsequently reported to the police and Carpenter was arrested.

At court this week he was jailed for two years for the three offences.
