THE most expensive house on the market in Oldham belongs to none other than Paul Scholes.

Earlier, The Oldham Times reported that the area's priciest property on Rightmove is a £3.85 million house with a football pitch, a putting green and a swimming pool as well as other luxury additions.

But it has since discovered the house belongs to England and Manchester United legend Scholes.

It has been on the market since September 2020, when The Mirror and other national newspapers reported that the former midfielder was selling after splitting up with wife Claire.

They had shared the house for more than 20 years and had raised three children in it, including 20-year-old Manchester Thunder netballer Alicia Scholes.

Despite around 10 months on the market, there is no sign of a reduction in the asking price.

The house also made headlines last year after claims it hosted a party on the same day as new coronavirus restrictions banned gatherings in houses or gardens across Greater Manchester.

In August 2020, the BBC reported that police had spoken to Scholes about the claims.
