A WAVE of beach family fun will reach Alexandra Park tomorrow, Tuesday, in the form of a host of games and inflatable attractions.

The Oldham Summer Beach will be making its debut from August 3 to 30 between 11am and 7pm every day to help keep youngsters entertained during the summer holidays.

There will be large inflatables and rides, a clowns cave and magic, a "mega decked" beach sandpit with deckchair seating as well as an array of games.

The event is being run by borough-based JK Events, which specialise in inflatable attractions, and has been serving the town for around 10 years.

This year the company wanted to go the extra mile for residents, who have had to endure months of staying indoor during the coronavirus lockdowns.

Managing director Kris Longshaw said: "We wanted to do something more spectacular as people have been locked in for so long.

"We want to sprinkle a bit of joy into people's lives with the Summer Beach.

"There will be lots of different inflatables and rides as well as a massive sandpit.

"We have a teepee which will be the clowns cave too.

"There is a lot of excitement for the event from the feedback we have had so far about it."

Like other sectors, the events industry has been devastated by the impact of the pandemic and JK Events is one of many businesses that was forced to stop trading due to the restrictions that were put in place to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

But with the rules being eased recently, Mr Longshaw is delighted to be back in business and putting smiles on faces again.

He added: "We were not able to trade for 18 months because of the restrictions so we are looking forward to the event.

"We have a lot of followers in Oldham and most people in the town know about us.

"The event should be good."
