A FAMILY business farm store in Delph has been left “devastated” after a group of travellers reportedly rammed the shop doors and intimidated staff and customers.

Police were called to Albion Farm Shop and Cafe on Oldham Road at around 10.05am on Sunday to a report of anti-social behaviour and tried to take a delivery vehicle.

Officers arrived and it was discovered a group of around 15 men had attempted to intimidate staff and customers.

The group then left the property, it was reported.

During the confrontation, the store said a large group of people tried to ram the shop while staff and customers stood behind it to keep the doors closed.

A member of staff was grabbed by someone unprovoked as well, according to the shop.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has said.

The force has also provided a statement to let people know that they understand how "distressing" crime can be and are "taking these incidents seriously".

A GMP spokesman said: “We want to reassure residents in Oldham that we are committed to tackling issues involving violence and anti-social behaviour.

“We understand how distressing acts of crime can be and I would like to reassure our local community that we are taking these incidents extremely seriously.”

The shop also said that a large amount of rubbish was left on the premises by the group.

On social media before the group left, a shop spokesman added: “Absolutely devastated.

“As if the last 18 months haven’t been hard enough, we now have a group of travellers using our bottom and top car park for their base and refusing to move for 10 days.

"We honestly can’t take many more of these set backs or the stress it is causing all of our small business family and staff.”
