A FIRE involving three properties broke out in Oldham this afternoon.

Four fire engines and specialist units were sent to Turner Street at around 12.45pm following reports of a fire.

Flames spread to the roof space of three properties before crews extinguished the blaze.

No-one was reported to have been hurt in the incident.

Greenacres Road was closed after the blaze, Transport for Greater Manchester reported, and motorists were advised to avoid the area.

The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “At approximately 12.45pm on Monday, firefighters were called to reports of a fire on Turner Street in Oldham.

“Four fire engines from Oldham, Hollins, Chadderton and Mossley fire stations, along with the turntable ladder from Manchester Central fire station, arrived quickly at the scene.

"The fire involves the roof space of three properties.

“Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus are using three hose reels, two extension ladders and other specialist equipment to extinguish the fire.

"Firefighters remain at the scene at this time.”
