THE Saddleworth show will return on Sunday, offering entertainment, activities, food and music for people of all ages, writes Kent Lawlor.

The event was cancelled last year due to the pandemic and was supposed to take place in June before it was pushed back three months to Sunday, September 19.

Thousands of people are set to attend the show at Well-i-Hole Farm in Greenfield every year with money being raised for rotary charities and good causes.

Tony Burke, co-chairman of the Saddleworth and WelliFest organising Committee, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our visitors the chance to come along.”

The pandemic has made life difficult for organisers, with the show not taking place last year and being postponed from June this year.

Mr Burke added: “We’ve had to work twice as hard.

“We hope this is a very good day out after being restricted for so long.”

Between 2,000-3,000 people are expected to attend the event with organisers hoping to double the £6,000 raised at the WelliFest music event.

The family fun day has been taking place for 35 years, with activities this year including arts and crafts, floating archery, laser quest, pony rides and more.

The event, organised by the rotary clubs of Saddleworth and Oldham Metro, will offer a wide range of food and entertainment including a live music showcase for musicians aged 11 to 18.

Mr Burke, who sits on the Rotary Club of Saddleworth committee, said: “We want to give young people a voice.

“We’re always keen to encourage young people and we’re proud to mount the youth musical showcase.”

Tickets can be bought at the gate, with adult tickets costing £6, 12 to 16-year-olds costing £3 and under 12s going for free.

A family ticket of two adults and two children (up to 16-years-old) will cost £15.

The day will begin at 10am and end at 5pm.
