Covid cases in Oldham are continuing to fall and the death rate is still dropping.

The latest figures from Public Health England show there were 94 positive tests found in the area today.

Over the last week there have been 687 cases which represents a fall of 17.2 per cent from the previous seven days.

Across the UK cases are falling at a slightly faster rate of 22.4 per cent.

The rate of Covid per 100,000 people in Oldham stands at 333.7, still below the UK average of 347.9.

There was a single death in the town today which came within 28 days of a positive test for the virus.

There have been four deaths in the last week, which is a fall of a third from the previous week.

Nationally there were 158 deaths today and the death rate is going up at a rate of 4.7 per cent.

There have been 673 deaths in Oldham which came within 28 days of a positive test for the virus since the pandemic began.

A total of 759 deaths have taken place in the town where Covid was listed as the official cause.

A total of 153,071 people in Oldham have had a first dose of the vaccine, which is 76.1 per cent of those eligible.

Of these 137,710 have had a second dose, which is 68.5 per cent of those eligible.
