A BOXING centre in Oldham is back with a bang after 18 months out amid the pandemic.

Oldham Boxing and Personal Development Centre has taken part in two shows in the last couple of weeks including the National Schoolboy Championships

Last weekend, youngster Gerry McBride who gave a text book example of counter punching boxing to prevail over a previously unbeaten Muhammad Hussein from Hall Green Club Birmingham.

He exhibited technique and fought his way to victory in the the 35.5kg class A category in the National SchoolBoy Championships quarter final.

In the 48kg Class A category, Patrick Rattighan came up against a more experienced and undefeated opponent in Jayden Bryce, from Worchester.

Patrick's sublime, evasive moment reportedly left his opponent "punching thin air" as he made his way through to the next round.

The club said the boxers' performances are testament to their dedication.

The training and preparation that they have put in as well as the work by their coaches has been commended as well.
