THE Royal Oldham Hospital is set to be officially transferred to another NHS Trust next month with its current one in the process of being dissolved.

The Rochdale Road site is due to be formally handed over from Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust to Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust from Friday, October 1.

The move will include the transfer of the Oldham, Rochdale and Bury sites, services and staff to the ownership of Salford's trust.

Pennine Acute said throughout 2020/21 it has worked to finish arrangements which will lead to it being dissolved as a separate trust and the formal and legal transfer of ownership of the three borough hospital sites to Salford.

During that time, the Salford trust carried out all "day-to-day management of services", according to Pennine Acute.

It will also be handing over control of North Manchester General Hospital to Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

In a statement on its website, Pennine Acute said: "In preparation for the formal legal transactions, during 2020/21 two management agreements came into effect through which Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust assumed responsibility for managing services at North Manchester General Hospital on our behalf and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust continued to manage the Oldham, Rochdale and Bury services on our behalf.

"This has meant that while the Pennine Acute board has remained ultimately responsible for all activities in the trust, all the day-to-day management of services in 2020/21 was undertaken by Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust.

"As a result, this year’s annual public meeting will focus on the technical aspects of the Pennine Acute trust board’s role in presenting the annual report and accounts.

"Reporting on performance and achievements will be covered by the separate Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust annual members meetings, which will be advertised by those organisations."

The Pennine Acute annual public meeting will be held tomorrow morning, Tuesday.

The trusts will remain part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group.
