The rate of Covid in Oldham is continuing to drop alongside the death rate from the virus.

The latest figures from Public Health England show there were 90 cases in the town today.

In the last week there have been 691 positive tests, which is a fall of 13.7 per cent from the seven days before this.

Across the UK cases are dropping at the slightly faster rate of 23 per cent.

There rate of Covid per 100,000 people is now almost exactly the same in Oldham as the UK as a whole.

In the town is stands at 331.2 compared to 337 which is the countrywide figure.

There were two deaths in Oldham recorded today which came within 28 days of a positive test for the virus.

In the last week there have been five fatalities, which is a drop from seven in the week before this.

The death rate in the town is therefore falling at a rate of 28.6 per cent.

Nationally there were 178 deaths today and the death rate is rising by 5.1 per cent.

153,121 people in Oldham have now had a first dose of the vaccine, which is 76.1 per cent of those aged 16 and above.

137,870 people have had both doses, which is 68.6 per cent of those eligible.

Across the UK 89.3 per cent of those aged 16 and above have had a first dose and 81.5 per cent have had a second.
